Gardening in August

Although August can bring the last few weeks of sunshine and warmth for some of us, it is also a crucial planting month for gardeners across the country. August is one of the best times to plant Bearded Iris to establish them before the colder months and bloom that coming spring. August is also the time to plant Fall-Flowering Crocus for gorgeous, late color in your garden when most other plants have faded.

Planning for Spring: Think Pink!

The color pink represents so many wonderful causes and feelings, I thought I would take the time to highlight and celebrate it as one of my favorite colors in the garden. Pink blooms, depending on the shade, can create an endless variety of statements in your garden. When the weather gets cold, I start planning ahead for spring and thought I would help you do the same with some of my favorite pink flowers.
