New Daylilies for 2014

Daylilies are one of the true cornerstones of any perennial garden. With some care, they grow in any soil type and multiply each year, making them one of the best garden investments. Many varieties are re-bloomers, putting on a colorful show twice in one season. These deer-resistant beauties are a must-have for any perennial garden and we are excited to be carrying seven new varieties for spring 2014.

Finally Getting this Garden Right!

I live in a small city and am fortunate enough to have a yard and garden (albeit small) to tend to. There is one bed in the back part of my yard that is always changing and evolving with each season, that I’m never quite satisfied with. This season, that’s all going to change!

A Garden in Perkins Cove, Maine

I recently took a trip to Ogunquit, Maine, and realized that collectively, this little seacoast town might have the best gardens I’ve ever seen! In particular, there is one garden tucked between two restaurants in Perkins Cove that is so breathtaking, I had to take some photos to show you all. Even the windowboxes are fabulous! I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Update: Beautifying my Alma mater!

In July of 2012 I wrote about giving back in a little different way to the university that I proudly graduated from back in 1997. Working with Assoc. Professor of horticulture Mark Starrett, we donated hundreds of plants that his students potted and planted all over campus. Today I received some updated photos and all I can say is, “WOW!”

What’s Growing in our Gardens

Here at American Meadows we have several test gardens where each season we plant new varieties, try out different color combinations, and grow enough vegetables for all of our employees to take home and enjoy. Read our blog to view the stunning photos taken this week.

Renewing Hope: Re-Planting a Vermont Town

Flowers symbolize hope, new beginnings, and renewal – everything that encompassed the town of Wilmington after Tropical Storm Irene. I knew that I could use my resources as an employee of American Meadows, and the generosity of its owners, to help bring life back into the devastated community.
